Getting FLEXlm key for IRIS Explorer
Introduction
FLEXlm is a license
manager that is used by many products.
To use IRIS Explorer at an outside institute, you will need to:
- run a FLEXlm server, (if not already used for another product,)
- to obtain and install a license key for the product.
Existing FLEXlm server
Send the following to Andreas.Pfeiffer@cern.ch:
- The hostname of the license server
- The output of lmutil lmhostid run on the license server

No Existing FLEXlm server
- Decide on which node you wish to run the FLEXlm server (any Unix system).

Locate the lmutil program in the subdirectory license/bin/...
- Follow the procedure described beside to get a key.

Configuring the license server
Once you have followed the above steps, a license file will be sent to you by e-mail.
You should then:
- Install the license file on the license server.
- Define the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable to point to the license server.
