Getting FLEXlm key for IRIS Explorer

Introduction

FLEXlm is a license manager that is used by many products. To use IRIS Explorer at an outside institute, you will need to:
  • run a FLEXlm server, (if not already used for another product,)
  • to obtain and install a license key for the product.

Existing FLEXlm server
Send the following to Andreas.Pfeiffer@cern.ch:
  • The hostname of the license server
  • The output of lmutil lmhostid run on the license server
More details and an example mail can be found here.
No Existing FLEXlm server
  • Decide on which node you wish to run the FLEXlm server (any Unix system).
  • Locate the lmutil program in the subdirectory license/bin/...
  • Follow the procedure described beside to get a key.
  • Install FLEXlm. Details for this operation are available here.

Configuring the license server

Once you have followed the above steps, a license file will be sent to you by e-mail. You should then:
  • Install the license file on the license server.
  • Define the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable to point to the license server.
For details, see the FLEXlm User Guide and FAQ.
