ATLAS has committed itself
to a set of Data Challenges to validate its software and its Computing
Model.
It is understood that they should be of increasing complexity and will use as much as possible the Grid middleware being developed in the context of several Grid projects like LCG (CERN), NorduGrid (Northern European Countries) and Grid2003 (USA). The results of these Data Challenges will be used as input for a Computing Technical Design Report due by mid of 2005, and for preparing a Memorandum of Understanding in due time.
More information can be found in the documents below:
Using AMI is the recommended way of searching for datasets, since it will be the only source containing constantly updated information also after DC1 (e.g. about the subsequent production of physics samples for the Athens Physics Workshop in May 2003).
There are two interfaces, one for an "Easy Search" to get a fast overview of the available samples (providing a search guided by physics keywords, and displaying only the most relevant dataset information), and one for an "Advanced Search" to retrieve all the available information in AMI. Both interfaces allow subsequent refinement of the searches, access to information on partition level (location, number of files, ...), etc.
The AMI and DC Teams will be happy to take into account users' feedback, in order to improve the user friendliness of the AMI Search Interfaces. If you have comments, suggestions, etc., please contact Solveig Albrand.
The webpages below won't be updated after DC1, and might soon become obsolete.
Primary data will be stored at nine different sites: Alberta, BNL, CERN, CNAF (Bologna), Karlsruhe, Lyon, Oslo, RAL, Tokyo. Besides, replicae of some datasets, and small sub-samples (ca. 10%; for testing purposes) of each dataset will be available at CERN.
