Description

Synchronization is a complex element required in the majority of communication systems and platforms. Single frequency networks (SFN), Intercommunications infrastructure or real time communications systems require not only accurate timing but also precise frequency and phase alignment.

GPS signals have typically been used as a reference source. However they are easily jammed or even hacked which represents a real threat especially in critical real time networks.

The most efficient and secure solution would be that the network infrastructure itself delivers the synchronization to the entire platform. The constant trend towards packet based networks presents a challenge to this solution and demands emulating synchronization in a non-synchronous environment in order to achieve these requirements.

Net Insight has developed and deployed large data WAN networks over IP based infrastructures achieving large amount of traffic with minimum jitter and full synchronization for national networks which require very strict phase and timing requirements.

About the speakers

Thomas Wahlund is Head of Business Segments at Net Insight. He has more than 20 years experience on WAN deployment and operations. He is driving Net Insight’s strategy to lead the SDN trend throughout the world.

Magnus Danielson is a Senior System Architect at Net Insight with almost 20 years experience in R&D on multiservice routing and switching platforms. He is a renowned expert on synchronization technologies and he takes active part in numerous standardizations bodies and international task forces like SMPTE or the VSF JTNM. He was approached on 2011 to help the team investigating the “faster-than-light” neutrino anomaly

Javier Gonzalez is Technical Solution Architect at Net Insight with 15 years experience on designing platforms for the Media industry. He works closely with customers to make sure Net Insight understand the needs and challenges they face when deploying and operating new infrastructures.
