Tuesday 22nd June 1999 Ian Tomalin MINUTES OF THE 33rd BEW MEETING (ALEPH week) ============================================== Agenda ------ Update on 192-196 GeV difermion results: M.-N. Minard Excited Lepton production at 189 GeV: J. von Wimmersperg Update on 192-196 GeV difermion results: M.-N. Minard ------------------------------------------------------ All results fairly consistent with SM predictions, except that Bhabha cross section is somewhat low. At 192 GeV, more BHWIDE e+e- MC must be generated to improve precision of SM predictions. The efficiency for radiative dimuon events is dropping as Ecms rises, as the muons are boosted into the forward detector regions. Excited Lepton production at 189 GeV: J. von Wimmersperg --------------------------------------------------------- Full details of this analysis can be found in ALEPH-CONF/99-042. No signal is seen. The only surprise is that far fewer dimuon events where a photon is reconstructed in the detector, are seen in data as compared to MC. This will be treated as a systematic error. A few improvements have been made to the analysis since last Spring. In particular, new MC for the SM nu nu gamma process is used which includes t-channel W exchange. Furthermore, the performance of the selection is improved as a result a better methods of choosing which lepton photon pair combinations to plot in a given event.
