Data Challenges

Atlas is engaged in a series of large scale Monte Carlo exercises where we generate, simulate, reconstruct and analyse increasingly large volumes of data. These exercises both support the physics, trigger and detector design activites, but are also an important testbench for our software and computing model.

Areas of Inquiry

  • Computing Resources
  • Networks from DAQ to primary storage
  • Databases
  • Grid Interfaces
  • Computing Farms
  • Distributed Analysis
  • Distributed Production
  • Alignment & Calibration Procedures
  • Modelling the model
  • Tests of Computing Model
  • Minimal services.
  • Implications on ATLAS software
