Meetings and Indico agenda pages

Conference room booking system (CRBS)

Go to the Indico home page and select "Room Booking". You need to be logged in to Indico.

Phone conferences

Protected phone conference (tel 7 6000)

A new "AudioConf" service has become available at CERN, which allows protection using a code number. To be able to book meetings, you need to sign up, i.e. fill the Audioconference account request (requires AIS account); you have to provide an "authorisation password". There is no charge, but your team account will be used in case of call-back usage. If you do not want your group to pay, you can turn this option off before booking. More information on the system: Start Guide: Automated audioconferencing server.

Standard CERN phone conference (tel 7 7000)

To reserve a phone conference send a message to Standard Telephone. Specify

To connect to a conference, dial +41-22-767 7000 and give title and organizer.

VRVS and EVO

VRVS is a Web conferencing system with audio and video capability. It is most useful when combined with the CERN agenda system, see our VRVS page with instructions for usage. A moderator should be available to guide through a session. It is a cheap way to organize meetings over long distances and lets you connect as long as you have access to internet. The video contributes little to the meeting content and takes much of the resources; avoid using it.

See the hints for setting-up and problem solving. Follow the VRVS etiquette to make your meeting useful and efficient for all participants.

EVO -- a new generation "VRVS" communication system, presently under test (contact person: James Catmore). See our preliminary EVO page. EVO is expected to replace VRVS in future.

2 - HyperNews (HN)

HyperNews for ATLAS was introduced in January 2006. It was adapted by Peter Elmer for CMS and ATLAS from the SLAC version, which is in use e.g. by the experiment BaBar, the ILC and Geant4.

HN is expected to replace many of the mailing lists and discussions on the Twiki, and is especially adapted for a protected discussion of physics analysis subjects in preparation for publications. Its search capabilities and easy creation of and subscription to Forums make it superior to Simba2.

HN should be used for postings, which are of wide interest within ATLAS and postings, which are open to all members of ATLAS. HN is very appropriate for discussions. For communications between a small group of users or for confidential communications Simba lists should be used. Do not send large attachments with HN postings, or documents, which need to be updated by other members; the TWiki is the more appropriate place for such communications. See also the HN policy page for more recommendations.

3 - Savannah tracking system

Savannah is a tracking system used to track bugs and tasks. It is more "rigorous" than HyperNews. Use it when a record of problems and solutions is of advantage.
