The reasons for this release are:
- Intermediary release to allow forward compatibility between 17.7.X.Y sim and 17.3.X.Y digi-reco (Jira ticket)
- Compatibility with new-style geometry tag naming (e.g. ATLAS-R1-2012-01-00-00)
- NB not to be used for an simulation, digitization or reconstruction.
