New Tracks features

In the latest version of VP1, available in the dev nightlies tomorrow (and in devval since last week), we have a better solution - now all track collections don't just have their own colour, but they can also have their own line widths. And soon, their own cuts. The way this works is hopefully very intuitive. If you look at the screenshot here, you will see that, as before, there are coloured boxes next to the track collection names in the left hand panel of the VP1 window. Clicking on those in the past would bring up a window which allowed you to change the colour and transparency of the collection, but now brings up the pop up shown over the main panel. Here you can change the colour as before (and watch that the colour of the box next to the collection names will change as well - it's all linked). But you can also change the line thickness of the tracks, whether they're drawn with a cylinder and its radius (useful for very high res screenshots), if the cylinders are shaded or not (use base lighting) and whether the actual track paths are hidden (mainly useful for people who are really debugging and just want to see hits). Finally, a word on drag and drop. If you click on the material buttons of two collections (i.e. have two pop up windows open) you'll see that you can modify the properties independently. Which is fine, but potentially time consuming. So, you can now drag and drop the material buttons, and will see the open windows update in real time. (You can even drag and drop the colour buttons alone - i.e. drag a red colour button from one pop up, onto the orange colour button of another pop up, and watch it all update in real time)

To test it now, you would need to do e.g.

asetup devval,rel1
vp1 /afs/cern.ch/atlas/groups/VP1/www/doc_new/sample_datafiles/ESD.Run204071_Event30963264.pool.root

We also plan to backport a big VP1 bundle to 17.2.X very soon.

Finally, for more on this improvement, you can read all about it in the VP1 issue-tracker:
