How can I join?

Anyone can join this club

  • there’s no violence, blood, and no, it’s not a fight club!
  • …and… don’t you know the rules of the fight club? ;-)
  • Anyone means small or tall, man or lady, weak or strong… It’s just fun, isn’t it? (besides it’s also a very good physical exercise if you are doing some sedentary job at CERN, like most of us :-D)

When?

Every week, the following days. Every training lasts one hour and you are welcome to join all of them. Please be on time, and don’t skip the warm-up.

    Does it cost me money?

    Yes, but very little:

    • The first training is for free, so just come, we’ll give you gloves.
    • For one month only: 15 CHF
    • For three months: 30 CHF
    • For six months: 50 CHF
    • For one year: 80 CHF

    Make a bank transfter to the CERN Fitness Club account (details follow) then send an email to fitness.club@cern.ch and to club-boxing-admins@cern.ch stating the amount you transferred and a proof of your payment (i.e. screenshot of online transfer)

    Rules

    Please respect the following rules

    • Always bring your towel.
    • When leaving remember to take all your belongings.
    • If you are the last one to leave, remember that all equipment has to be stored away in its place, cupboards closed and padlocked, lights switched off and all doors locked
    • Let’s try to keep the showers clean. Please also do not leave your belongings or your trash or junk in the bathroom-shower area.
    • No member is allowed to use the pump hall outside the training hours.

    Just answering few common questions

    • We (trainers, admins) are not professionals. We work at CERN like you.
    • Yes, there are showers.
    • Buy your own gloves! We have some spare ones, but they stink!
    • We do organize dinners from time to time!
