Lapack3 and blas

Pawlib and some mathlib components depend on the lapack 3.0 and blas libraries, and the "cernlib" command and the Cernlib build procedures refer to liblapack3.a and libblas.a. Some systems provide optimised versions of blas and lapack and it is usually preferable to use them when they are compatible with the Cernlib distribution. The following procedure can be used to build these libraries for inclusion with the Cernlib libraries, e.g. in /tmp/cernlib/build.

• Download the source file lapack.tgz to any directory.
• Uncompress it with: gunzip -c lapack.tgz | tar xf -
• cd LAPACK.
  • Edit make.inc (for compiler and other options). Example make.inc for Linux g77.
  • Edit Makefile if you want to build libblas.a. Example Makefile for Linux g77.
  • Type make to build the libraries and tests.
• Copy the libraries to the cernlib lib directory, e.g.
  • cp -p blas_Linux2418.a /tmp/cernlib/lib/libblas.a
  • cp -p lapack_Linux2418.a /tmp/cernlib/lib/liblapack3.a
