Notes
- In accordance with our established policy, only one O/S version is
supported per platform in any release.
- AIX: After Easter AIX 4.2 or 4.3 may be required for SP2 batch.
- DEC: 3.2 modules run on 4.0. F77 4.1 is the recommended DEC compiler.
Freeze 3.2 version at 97a. The latest Oracle needs 4.0.
- HP:
9.07 is frozen. 11.x may be needed next summer.
- SGI:
6.4 will give the best performance on new CERN hardware.
It is likely that there will be incompatibilities over other 6.x hardware
and software combinations.
- SOLARIS:
The f77 SC4.0 libraries work with the new SC4.2 compilers. The SC4.2
Release notes warn of compatibility problems linking with libraries built
with 4.2 and programs compiled with older versions.
As SC4.2 has been strongly requested by CMS and has been available since
last summer, this is our choice.
- VMS:
6.2 works on 7.1.
Some Multinet issues remain to be sorted out.
- NT:
The release will be with Digital Visual Fortran v5.0 as Microsoft have
dropped support for Powerstation Fortran 4.0.
