In CLIC, a very tight tolerance exists for the relative timing of drive beam and main beam - about 15fs. The origin of this tolerance will be discussed and the resulting demanding requirements on the jitter stability of the drive beam. Potential strategies to meet this challenge will be presented and hardware tests to be performed in CTF3 will be proposed.
