Search for Anomalous Top Quark Pair Production in the Boosted All-Hadronic Final State using pp Collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV
Abstract: A search for new physics in the form of high-mass particles ($m > 1$ TeV/$c^2$) decaying to highly-energetic top quark-antiquark pairs is performed using 19.6 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV collected with the CMS detector. A top tagging algorithm is utilized to maintain sensitivity in this high-mass regime, where decay products become highly boosted. Event yields are consistent with the expectation for standard model processes. Exclusion limits are set for several new physics models, including Randall-Sundrum Kaluza-Klein gluon production, and both wide ($\Gamma_{Z'}/m_{Z'} = 10$\%) and narrow ($\Gamma_{Z'}/m_{Z'} = 1$\%) $Z'$ resonance production, as well as for non-resonant enhancements to the top quark pair production cross section.
