Search for scalar resonances in the 200-1200 GeV mass range decaying into a Z and a photon in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 8 TeV
Abstract: A search for a high mass scalar particle decaying into a Z boson and a photon is described. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision datasets recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. Events were collected at center-of-mass energies of 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. The selected events are required to have opposite-sign electron or muon pairs. No excess above standard model predictions has been found in the 200-1200 GeV mass range and limits at 95% confidence level have been derived on the scalar boson production cross section times the $\mathrm{A} \rightarrow \mathrm{Z} \gamma \rightarrow \ell \ell \gamma $ branching fraction. The observed limits are between 0.15 and 3.8 fb.
