Desktop Computing

Description and news concerning the CERN desktop environment centrally provided on UNIX and PCs (NICE95 and NICE-NT), and providing the "general-purpose computing" environment. It consists of the hardware, software strategy, and services for the basic applications, which one expects to be generally available on desktops. This environment presents the basic computing infrastructure of the laboratory.
