Migrating Oracle Tools from CERNVM to CERNSP

  Sergio Santiago CN/ASD

The Oracle database that resided on CERNVM has been for some time completely moved out of the IBM, mainly to the CERNDB1 Unix server.

For people who were using Oracle tools on CERNVM as a front-end to a database and now planning to move to CERNSP:

a)
SQL* Plus should not cause any problem.

b)
If they invoked the tools within REXX, this should still work, though not recommended.

c)
Forms have to be re-generated in the new environment (see the WWW information mentioned at the end).

d)
Last but not least, Pro*REXX users, if any, should contact us as soon as possible (e-mail Oracle.Support@cern.ch).

The Oracle central database support within CN division is presented at the WWW URL

http://wwwinfo.cern.ch/database

More precisely, you can click on ``Migrating'' to read more about moving out from CERNVM, and you can click on ``keyboard mapping'' to learn more about this topic within the Oracle tools (SQL* Forms, SQL* Menu, SQL* ReportWriter).
