For historical reasons the syntax that this program accepts is unfortunately different from the one used for the automatic generation of obvious names for multipart familynames. To guide the program to find the boundary between the firstname part and the familyname part the convention is that the last occurrence of the period (.) character delimits the firstname part. So at present the program will not find a match for the incomplete obvious name de.las.vegas but it would be able to find a match for de-las-vegas because it is not confused by ``misleading'' period characters. We are working on a solution with compatible syntax.

Note that brown_muck is not as general as it could be, because it doesn't properly handle cyclic paths. This is in principle easy to fix. But the implementation of shading areas of genus >0 has to behave differently for METAFONT and MetaPost and would occupy too much space in this short article. It will be provided in a future version of FeynMF.
