The ``Listbox'' service replaces LISTSERV on CERNVM and has already been announced in the previous Computer Newsletter.
A review of the Mailing List ``ListBox'' Service was started one month ago as the service started showing some deficiencies. These problems appear mainly when users are administering or querying the ListBox service. Moreover this service is suffering from its increasing usage and we are facing some performance problems.
Two important bugs have been found and solved and a new version of the software has been put in production recently. It improves the functionality and solves partially the speed problem.

We are looking at decreasing the load and improving the performance on the current service. Important changes (if any) will be announced as they are scheduled.
We plan to upgrade important auxiliary software in order to use the obvious address (name.surname@cern.ch) instead of the preferred electronic mail address (login-name@host.cern.ch). This concerns programs which are daily rewriting mailing lists, etc.
