AFS tips

Question

Which is the easiest method to allow ftp access to some of my home directory files on afs?

Answer

First create a ~/www directory. Then type
fs setacl www cern:nodes read
to specify the web server read rights, and place files or links to files you wish to distribute. These files can be accessed using the link:
  http://home.cern.ch/~Login_name
A more user-friendly interface would be to create a Welcome.html file in ~/www with links to the relevant files.

Question

How can I find out my quota/usage on afs?

Answer

Use the command fs listquota.

Question

Are my afs-files backed-up automatically? If yes, where do I find them?

Answer

Yes, they are, but only the versions of the previous working day (excluding weekends). You will find them in the directory: /afs/cern.ch/ubackup/..., i.e. your normal directory with user replaced by ubackup.
