Following our policy of making available Netscape
beta versions, the
new Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0
beta 8 has been available for testing since
Wednesday, September 4th, 1996 on all UNIX machines accessing the
ASIS
server.
You can launch it the usual way, by typing
``netscape -version beta
'' or
``netscape -version gold
''. Please note
that this is a beta version of the Navigator Gold 3.0, which has not
been released yet. New features in this version can be reached from
the ``Help|Release Notes'' menu option.
The following changes have been applied to the CERN wrapper of the Navigator:
This behaviour has been set up on September 4th, 1996 for people
using the Navigator in a totally transparent way, and can be
overridden at anytime. New users get it by default. We also remind
you that typing ``netscape -reset
'' will reset your
configuration to CERN's default.
