This autumn we will be replacing the aging and overloaded
news server machine, dxnews, by a more
powerful machine which also uses the
latest software. This software should allow us to control better abuse of
at least the CERN news groups. To make the changeover as smooth as
possible, please make sure that the NNTP server specified in the
configuration file of your news reading program is
not the real host,
dxnews.cern.ch, but its current nickname:
news.cern.ch
This nickname will be moved to the new machine once it is run in and any initial problems have been solved.
