User Authentication on PIAF

  Dino Ferrero Merlino IT/ASD

Users of the PIAF service running on the CS-2 can currently be authenticated by using either their AFS or CORE password. In order to make life more simple for users, and to reduce the administration overhead, we plan to change this policy. Starting from November 1st the authentication will be limited to the AFS password only.

To cope with this change PIAF users must update their own .piafrc files to use the AFS password instead of the CORE one. This may be done immediately and must be done by November 1.

All registered PIAF users already have AFS accounts and newly registered accounts automatically receive an AFS account if one does not exist. If you have forgotten your AFS password please contact the UCO (User.Registration@cern.ch or tel. 74952) to have it reset.
