Java Workshop

  Ignacio Reguero IT/DIS

As the inventor of Java, SUN offers a complete development environment for this language. This environment is automatically installed in the default CERN Solaris SUE configuration.

Java WorkShop is a complete graphic development environment for Java. It includes the JDK ("Java Development Kit") which is used as compiler back-end. (The JDK binaries are freely available in the network.)

The latest version of the Java WorkShop V2.0 (built September 3 1997) is now available for Solaris. This kit is based on the JDK 1.1.3 and includes:

This kit provides a several fold increase in performance over previous versions.

Java WorkShop V2.0 is licensed with a ScholarPac site license key valid for the CERN site.

Java WorkShop V1.0 (based on the JDK 1.0.2) is also available now under the same ScholarPac site license key so it does not require "per user" registration within the CERN site.

Please check the "CERN Solaris Installation Guide" (http://wsspinfo/file/doc/solinst.html) for the detailed installation and licensing instructions for both versions.
