Over the coming months, here are our plans for certifying the various
versions of the UNIX operating systems which we support on the desktops. For
further information on any of these, or comments on the plans, please
contact us
(http://wwwinfo.cern.ch/dis/ose/Staff.html
).
Note that in a number of cases we are dependent on software
coming from vendors. As the situation changes, appropriate news items will
announce the latest status.
- SUN Solaris Certified 2.5.1
We will soon start working on 2.6, since AFS for 2.6 has just
arrived.
- HP-UX Certified 10.20
HP released 10.20 (ACE). Transarc are currently certifying AFS for
this (but were reported that 10.20 AFS seems to run).
They have no plans for a 10.30 port, since they claim that
HP never put this on General Release.
HP 11 has just arrived. Transarc are starting the port, so expect
something in 6-12 weeks.
We believe there is little interest in either 10.30 or 11 at present.
(Are we wrong?)
- D-UNIX Certified 4.0.b
4.0.c is not certified but works (inc. AFS for release b)
Digital has just released 4.0.d. Transarc is working on the port
(expect more news in 2 weeks). We know that some users want this release, but
until we hear from Transarc we are unable to give a date.
- AIX Certified 4.1
Certification of 4.2 about to be started.
We anticipate that some users may want 4.2 soon (and may be 4.3
after that), but the 4.3 kit has only just arrived at CERN, and
there is no news from Transarc on their plans for it.
