The status with the ASIS application software repository is presently as follows:

• Supported platforms:
  • sun4x_56: SUN Solaris 2.6 (partial, full from mid-January)
  • sun4x_55: SUN Solaris 2.5.1 (frozen from mid-January)
  • i386_redhat51: Linux Redhat 5.1
  • i386_linux2: Linux Redhat 4.1 (frozen from mid-January)
  • i386_redhat50: Linux Redhat 5.0 (partial and frozen)
  • hp_ux102: HPUX 10.20
  • alpha_dux40: DEC OSF 4.0b
  • rs_aix41: IBM AIX 4.1.5 (to be frozen in the next months)
  • rs_aix42: IBM AIX 4.2.1 (partial and frozen)
  • rs_aix43: IBM AIX 4.3.2 (partial, full from mid-January)

• Unsupported platforms:
  • sgi_64: SGI Irix 6.4
  • sgi_52: SGI Irix 5.3 (frozen)
  • sun4c_411 (SUNOS 4.1.3) (frozen since years)
  • hp700_ux90 (HPUX 9.05) (frozen since years)
  • alpha_osf32 (DEC OSF 3.2c) (frozen since years)

A platform is declared "partial" when only a part of the applications is generated for this particular O.S.. Getting access to ASIS applications is to be done with the appropriate tools which will give you some application of this particular platform and the rest from the closest O.S., called the "fail-over".

Deletion of frozen platforms on the ASIS NFS server

In order to free some space on the almost saturated ASIS NFS repository (asisnfs.cern.ch or asis01.cern.ch), we have been analysing which frozen platforms are not being accessed any longer via the standard ASIS tools on this server.

They are the following:

DEC Ultrix 4.3 (pmax_ul43)
SunOS 4.1      (sun4c_411)
SGI 4000       (sgi4000_52)

If no objection are received, the deletion has been scheduled for January 25th, 1999.
