HPPLUS: a Change of Hardware

  Tim Smith IT/PDP

The HPPLUS service started in mid-'95 based around just two HP 735 workstations and then expanded to a total of 21 systems as other clusters moved to newer hardware. It is now HPPLUS' turn for new hardware and, by the time this CNL appears, the HPPLUS service should be running on 4 dual-CPU HP J2240 workstations - and a fifth such system will be added early next year.

The operating system will remain the same (HP-UX 10.20) but will be brought up to date with all the latest bug fixes. In addition some extra functionality will be made available such as the pthreads libraries.
