Obsolete Macintoshes

  Frank Ovett IT/DIS

We have been informed by Apple Computers that they have discontinued spare parts support for certain technologically obsolete products, which are from 8-10 years old, i.e.

Mac Plus, Mac SE, Mac SE/30
Mac II, Mac IIx, Mac IIcx, Mac IIfx, Mac Portable
PowerBook 100, PowerBook 140, PowerBook 145/145B, PowerBook 170
With the agreement of the last Desktop Forum, it has therefore been agreed that we declare all MACs on the list above as obsolete and all hardware and software support for these models will cease as from 31st March 1999.

Note that you may continue using such machines as long as they do not require hardware or software support from IT division.
