For a number of years IT division operated a modem dial in network which permitted (under certain conditions) worldwide access to the CERN computer network. For various reasons, mostly security and Y2K non compatibility, this access possibility will be definitively removed from service at the end of this year. In the interim the service has been reduced and the old modem lines have been disabled. The CERN recommended alternatives are to:
