15 players, including two ladies, D. Elvin and J. Kirby, and an eight-year old, L. Osborne, turned out for the Eifion Jones Single Wicket Competition. In the first round, J. Osborne was surprisingly eliminated by 12-year old N. Nanjungud. Highlight of the second round was the record score of 49 by Elliott, which beat the previous best of 43 by Kirwan, who won in 2004. Captain Elvin was eliminated due in large part to a run out following some smart fielding by J. Kirby, who must be congratulated for her enthusiasm in the field all afternoon. In the semi-finals, last years winner, Ahmed, beat Onions and Elliott beat Crook to set up an intriguing final. Ahmed batted first and made 43 off his 3 overs, quite a respectable total. However, Elliott again set a record to make the highest score of 56 in the final, ensuring a new and worthy name on the trophy. Many thanks to all who turned out to make this yet another memorable day.
