After C5 REPORT

Fall 2002 HEPiX/HEPNT-W2K Meeting

The meeting took place in Fermilab in the week of October 21st.

• A Large Cluster Management SIG workshop covered October 21-22.

• In the HEPiX part of the meeting, interesting talks on:

  • NFS performance on various Linux filesystems by Cary Whitney, NERSC (LBL)

  • CVS set-up at IN2P3-CC by Yannick Patois

  • High volume and speed transfers CERN-TRIUMF by Corrie Kost

  • Harware reliability testing by Steve Timm, FNAL

  • System monitoring (NGOP) update by Marc Mengel, FNAL

  • Disk benchmark tools comparison by Chris Brew, FNAL

  • Suitability of Blade servers by Rochelle Lauer, Yale

  • Afs status and future, open discussion.

• Results from User Support survey in other HEP sites
