1. SELECT, flag=MAKETHIN (HB)
(slides in pdf)
HB has written a new version of the SELECT routine, allowing to
correctly "slice" the latest LHC sequence structure. This
version is in agreement with the existing Web documentation
(the old version disagreed) and is easier to understand for
the users.
the number of slices may now also be specified in the definition of the elements.
MAKETHIN acts only on the sequence specified in the last USE command. If there is no "current sequence" then
selections by RANGE have no meaning (error message)
2. PTC twiss with initial TWISS parameters (KZ)
(slides in ppt)
KZ presented 4 ways to specify initial lattice parameters for a beam line.
The different methods were shown to produce consistent results. In the presented
MAD examples
the periodic solution of a ring was used as initial conditions for the transfer line leading to a second ring.
The methods presented in the meeting are now operational.
3. Progress with PTC tracking (VK)
(slides in ppt)
tracking and plotting work already
observation points will come next
synchrotron radiation to be finalised and further tested
VK proposes to add space charge calculations
In the discussion FT suggested to rename command "ptc_start" to "start" like in the standard (i.e.
non-ptc) tracking module (this is in line with the recommendations agreed at
the February 2005 MAD-X meeting)

FT confirms that the fellow coming to work on the migration of CLIC
and CTF studies to MAD-X will arrive in November
