For the second year running, CERN is making a fully equipped beamline available for a team of high-school students aged 16 and over to run an experiment. To enter the Beamline for schools competition for the chance to come to CERN and conduct an experiment, register your team now!

  • To register, use this form to tell us in 140 characters why your team should win.
  • The deadline for registrations is midnight on 31 January 2015.

Teams can be composed of up to 30 students with at least one adult supervisor, or "coach". Up to nine of the team members and one or two coaches would come to CERN to run the team's experiments.

Once registered, you can start working on a scientific proposal for the experiment you wish to conduct. A large number of experienced researchers are on hand to give advice about proposals. Check who to contact for help in your region or language here. The deadline for submitting the proposals is 31 March 2015. Proposals will be pre-selected by a committee of CERN scientists, and the shortlist will be sent to the committee that validates all proposals for experiments at two of the laboratory’s accelerators – the Proton Synchrotron and Super Proton Synchrotron. The winning team will be selected on the basis of their proposal.
