B. Sunanda and me developed a model in which the Elements, Materials and common Rotation Matrices are built just once and accessed centrally (see my presentation at the 31/03/98 CMS Geant4 Club meeting). This is currently incorporated into CMSExample

A first step towards a general framework for a Detector Description of CMS using Geant4 has been taken. Here is the description (updated 28/09/99) of the system and some instructions on how to build the program. See the current detectors in the system.

Currently, I am working as a Geant4 tester on SUN & HP machines for CMS. A first model of the X5 test beam in Geant4 was built by the end of 1997. Some results checking was performed. To know more about it follow me.

I collaborated with P. Arce in the implementation of the CMS Muon Barrel geometry using Geant4. You can see the last results presented in the CMS Geant4 Club meeting.

During four months in the last year, I have been working with B. Sunanda and V. Innocente in the development of an interface between CMSIM (the CMS simulation package written in Fortran) and Objectivity (an object oriented data base). We use some CMSIM routines and it's event simulation engine to store the CMS subdetectors and the events in the objectivity database.

Meanwhile I was also collaborating with M. Marino in his CMS Pattern Recognition Pilot Project (take a glance at the pictures!). At this point he is able to read the geometry and the simulated events in an OO database from a different machine. The first "real" event has also been reconstructed (well... more or less)..

The mixing of the knowledge acquired in both projects and a little further investigation has lead to a nice application capable of representing the CMS detector tracker, and/or an event.
