Resources for users of MAD-9

This page provides supplementary material to that on the main MAD Home Page which contains the official user manuals. It is more transitory and, possibly, less reliable or out-of-date but is intended to be helpful.  Items which disappear from this page may reappear on the main MAD Home Page.

News group

Internet discussion group:  cern.mad This was meant to be a forum for discussions about the developments of MAD9 and for questions and answers related to the use of MAD8 and MAD9 but unfortunately it has proved difficult to make it available outside CERN.

Analysis of MAD Version 9 jobs

There is a simple Mathematica package that will help you analyse your usage of MAD9 commands and CPU time.

Programme of tests of MAD Version 9

This programme is not presently active - these links are kept as an archive.

How to report a bug in MAD Version 9 or its documentation

If you think you have found a bug in MAD Version 9, click here to report it Please ADD TO  the existing subject line on the mail (do not delete the initial "[MAD9 bug]" which allows the mail to be directed automatically).    Please specify precisely how the bug arose and what behaviour you expected.  Provide some sample input which exhibits the bug in as simple a way as possible.

If you report an error in the documentation, please specify precisely where it occurs (usually by URL) and suggest a replacement where possible.

No guarantees are offered concerning the fixing of bugs!

Transparencies from meetings

There were some informal meetings on MAD9 in the SL-AP group at CERN.  Summaries of these meetings are posted on  cern.mad.  For further details, you can browse some of the transparencies shown in these meetings.

Interacting with MAD9

This page gives information about ways of feeding input to MAD9 and viewing or capturing the two main output streams.

Madtomma Packages and example applications for interacting with Mathematica.  Many more possibilities exist than presently documented here.  In particular, it is possible to drive a MAD process entirely within Mathematica, providing a higher-level interface.  More in due course as this is developed.
