Welcome to Monica Vazquez Acosta's homepage
I am a Staff Scientist (Científico Titular OPI) in the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
I am working in the ground-based gamma-ray astronomy experiment Magic located in
the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos in La Palma. My research in MAGIC is
carried out within the Active Galactic Nuclei and the Astroparticles and Fundamental
physics groups. The online status of the MAGIC telescopes can be found here.
I am also involved in the future project to build an array of
Cherenkov Telescopes CTA.
The
first prototype LST1 of the Large-Size Telescopes (LST)
has already been built in
La Palma. I am the Scientific
Responsible of the IAC in the LST Consortium.
I am also
a member of the AMS-02 experiment,
which is a particle physics detector in
the international space station.
Previously I worked in the CMS experiment at CERN & the ZEUS experiment at DESY.
