Proton Synchrotron Straight Section 26

The large cylinder on the orange table is magnetic septum SMH26, which is used to inject ions from LEIR into the PS. At the left, standing on the floor, a 'roughing pump', usually a rotating vane pump. The red sphere above that is a turbomolecular pump. Above the turbo pump, an automatic valve to protect the pumps from damage in case of a breach elsewhere in the ring.
