Practical Information
1) Ajaccio-Cargese school bus:
The first school bus will leave from Ajaccio airport on Monday July 30 at
15:00, waiting for passengers on flight XK4506 from Paris landing at
14:35. The second bus will leave at 18:20, waiting passengers on flight
XK155 from Marseille (landing at 17:55). The meeting point
is on the bus parking of the Ajaccio airport (on the left of the exit after
picking up your luggage). The list of people in each bus can be found here.
Please check your name is in the correct list, so
that there is no unnecessary waiting. In case of last minute trouble,

Please notice: if you have not filled in your travel information, you probably will end up
paying 100 euros for a taxi ride.
2) Housing assignments:
Upon arrival in Cargese, you must first check in by the Institute to
receive your key, and some help to locate your housing in the village (many
of which are unnumbered). Those of you not coming by bus must meet Nathalie
Bedjai (+33 495 26 80 44) at the Institue on Monday July 30 at 16:00 pm.
Your preferences for housing have been met, except for some camping
requests (private mail on this issue later).
Please notice: appartments are not available before Monday July 30 nor
after Saturday August 11.
3) Village-Institute walks:
There is a 2km (~20min) walk with breathtaking view between the village
housings and the Institute. Some shuttles will be organised (first day only)
for those too tired to walk to the village with their luggage.

4) Timetable:
The lectures will start on Tuesday July 31st at 8h45 am.
Coffee will be served at the 10:30 am break, and lunch at 12:30. The
climatized library and computer rooms will be open before and after
the afternoon lecture (15:00-16:30). For dinner, participants are free to
choose the restaurant they prefer in the village, or prepare their meal in their appartments.
5) Student sessions:
Depending on demand, a few sessions with 10+5mn presentations by students will
be organized in the afternoon. Please ask for a time slot when you check in
if you prepared such a talk (chalks, video and slide projectors will be available).
6) Computers:
A computer room with internet connection and ethernet cables is available
at the Institute. A WiFi network will also be set up (but not during
lectures!). If you intend to connect your computer to the network, you are
kindly asked to update your antivirus database. France delivers 220V 50Hz electricity with round plugs.
7) Social activities:
- Tuesday July 31: a welcome cocktail will be organized after the first
day of lectures.
- Sunday Aug. 5: will be free of lectures. Instead, a boat trip will be
organized (do not forget your swimming suit!)
- Thursday Aug. 9: evening banquet/barbecue at the Institute.
8) Music:
Cargese is music-friendly Institute, with a grand piano in a climatized
music room. Why not bring along your instrument and favorite music sheets?
Your favorite CDs might also turn out handy some evenings...
9) Weather:
Temperatures in Cargese at this time of the year range between 10 degree
Celsius (all time record low), 17 (average min. temperature) to 27 (average
max.) and 39 (all time record high). Rainfall is exceptional: less than 2
days/month above 0.25mm raifall/day.
10) Do not forget:
Light clothes, light/confortable walking shoes, a flash light for evening
walks on bumpy paths, a swimming suit and towel (+ diving mask?).
11) You may forget:
Sheets are available for all housing possibilities; bathroom towels also
(except for camping).
OTHER REMINDERS :
** Payment:
The payment of the registration fees, housing and lunches will be
done at the Institute, during the School. Credit cards will be
accepted, and there is a bank with ATM in the village of Cargese.
** If you can't manage to catch the buses on july 30th:
A cheaper option than taxi is Regular buses operate twice a day between the harbour/bus station of
Ajaccio and Cargese at the following times (except Sunday):
> From Ajaccio bus station to Cargese: departure at 7h30 and 15h30
> From Cargese to Ajaccio bus station: departure at 9h15 and 15h15
