Machine Registration
All machines used within the GD group MUST be registered in the
LANDB. The
Responsible for the device MUST be recorded as one of the GD admin groups. This is used to generate list of machines used by GD. The following table shows the admin groups within GD.

The
Main User of the device MUST record the person who is the main user. This is used so that the user can be contacted before any action, such as re-installations take place. Failure to do this may result in your machine being re-installed.
The tag field can be used to create your own groupings of machines. The description should also be filled so that it is clear what the machine is being use for. The
Node Status page can be used to list the machines that are used in GD. You can select lists of machined based on the Admin groups, the Main user or the Tags.
Good Practice Guidelines
- Ideally production machine should be managed by the standard Fabric Management tools (Quattor).
- You should add your machine to the 'Pakiti' system so that any security updates needed can be tracked. (see PakitiClient)
