May 2008 2nd HEP Information Resource Summit May 20-21, 2008 at DESY

Rationale

Participants are divided in Inspired, Outspired and Inspiring. We want to present what the first are at. Try to match vision and start real technical projects with the seconds and get input from the thirds. The thirds are also to be involved, in the limits of common visions, into getting to common projects.

We could have 6 sessions. These are:

  1. The Inspire Session, to show what we did and where we want to go.
  2. The 'Cousin Systems' Session, to hear where they want to go. Long-ish for ADS/arXiv. Elevator pitches for the others. Longer discussions in the mini-workshops.
  3. The Publishers Session, to hear where they want to go. Elevator pitches. Longer discussions in the mini-workshops.
  4. Other Points of View
  5. The Inspiring Session, to be inspired beyond all the above.
  6. The Mini-Workshops, to see how we can go together along common paths and shared visions.

Outspired participants are invited to:

  • stay around for Thu morning more restricted conversations
  • come with a vision to show in their talk which is on short-term and medium-term plans, and think how these could match with the HEP vision
  • come with a set of ideas on how we could collaborate on the topics to be discussed in the mini-workshops, that is:
    • Authors/affiliations ID DB
    • Citations and metrics
    • Text-mining
    • Searching
    • Interoperability
  • propose as of now additional/different topics for the mini-workshops in addition to the above
