• Will your site be willing to participate in the joint tape test?
    • CC-IN2P3 agree to participate in the tape test. All WLCG VO are welcome

  • What is the maximum available tape throughput of the site?
    • 8 GB/s

  • Number of tape drives and drive types
    • 48 Drives TS1160 (Aug 2021), 36 of them are available for WLCG all VOs (WLCG and others)

  • Does the site have hard-partition between read and write?
    • No. read and write are available on same infrastructure.

  • For multi-VOs, does the site have hard-partition between VOs?
    • No. However, a max number of 36 drives can be use by VO (WLCG and others). Others are used for repack and others tape activities.

  • How the tape drives are allocated among VOs and for write and read?
    • Depending of the writing activities (1 to 18 drives), drives number allocated for reading can be between 18 and 36.

  • Tape disk buffer size. For both read and write
    • ALICE: 228Tb ( read /write) on XRootd, HPSS Buffer : (180 TB shared with LHCb)
    • ATLAS: Import tape buffer (70TB), Export tape buffer (291 TB) on Dcache, HPSS Buffer : 340 TB dedicated
    • CMS: Import tape buffer (95TB), Export tape buffer (133 TB) on Dcache, HPSS Buffer : 460 TB dedicated
    • LHCb: Import tape buffer (40TB), Export tape buffer (63 TB) on Dcache, HPSS Buffer : (180 TB shared with ALICE)

  • Any other info the site finds relevant ans wants to share. For example ,how much of the tape infrastructure is shared between experiments, what is the impact of other communities, etc.
    • Until end of 2022, site is on the migration phase to move all data from old libraries (56 T10KD drive) to the new library (TS1160). On the begin of July 2021, 37 PB still remains on T10KD (5200 Tapes)
    • CMS data are not yet fully migrated to the new library. Potentially reading old CMS data can be done through old library (T10K drives).
    • Site use an internal scheduler (TREQS) for tape reading and provide a HPSS cache space of 1.7 PB (1 PB dedicated to WLCG)

Please see some additional questions to answer

  • According with the LHC experiment expected throughputs YY on site XX how much you could offer for the 2nd week of October and what percentage of hardware you will have during that date?
    • According to the expected throughput on CC IN2P3 site, we should be able to satisfy the requirement.

  • When do you expect to have required hardware in place?
    • This hardware is already online
