• Will your site be willing to participate in the joint tape test?
    • For multi-VO site , for which VOs then?
      • yes, for ATLAS, CMS & LHCb
  • What is the maximum available tape throughput of the site?
    • 2.2 GB/s for staging and writing per VO
  • Number of tape drives and drive types
    • for the test we may allocate 12 drives per VO for reading, 8 drives for migration/writing (since LHCb does writing only).
    • Drive type: Oracle T10k-D
  • Does the site have hard-partition between read and write?
    • No.
  • For multi-VOs, does the site have hard-partition between VOs?
    • No, Tape drives are shared between VOs
  • How the tape drives are allocated among VOs and for write and read?
    • the maximum number of tape drives is configurable for each VO for both read and write actions.
  • Tape disk buffer size
    • For read
      • ATLAS: 250TB
      • CMS: 200TB
      • LHCb: 150TB
    • For write
      • ATLAS: 230TB
      • CMS: 200TB
      • LHCb: 150TB

  • Any other info the site finds relevant ans wants to share. For example ,how much of the tape infrastructure is shared between experiments, what is the impact of other communities, etc.
    • Our participation in the test depends on the timeline when WLCG is going to do it, since we have data migration to HPSS is going in the background, and at that time we may not be able to participate due to limited resources. Timing is very important for us. It would also be nice to know the details of these tests (staging? writing ? How many TB/PB? etc.).

Please see some additional questions to answer

  • According with the LHC experiment expected throughputs YY on site XX how much you could offer for the 2nd week of October and what percentage of hardware you will have during that date?

For staging, we expect ~150MB/s per tape drive, taking into account the current file size and file distribution. In case you plan to also write larger files (~ 10GB) to tape during this test, and then stage them, then this number will be different (higher throughput per tape drive is expected).

  • When do you expect to have required hardware in place?

The hardware is in place. There is nothing more to add or install.
