This page is devoted to keep track of the activity about comparative tests over all SRMv2 instances. The aim of this activity is to have an overview of the behavior of all main Storage technologies available on WLCG and equipped with SRM v2 (CASTOR, d-Cache, StoRM and DPM). The persons mainly involved on this activity are:
  • Luca Dell'Agnello (CNAF storage system manager)
  • Vincenzo Vagnoni (CNAF/LHCb support)
  • Angelo Carbone (CNAF/LHCb support)
  • Luca Magnoni and Riccardo Zappi (StoRM developers)
  • Giacinto Donvito and Vincenzo Spinoso (CMS/Bari dCache and site managers)
  • Elisa Lanciotti and Roberto Santinelli (CERN/LHCb)

Partecipant storage instances are summarized on this table (that all responsibles have to keep-up-to-dated):

As a first step the tests going to be performed are based on the Elisa's TestSuite used previously to study the StoRM storage. The plans for this activity consist in extending the scope of the stress tests with deeper studies on the perfomances of various storage solutions, their optimizations and their readiness to substain a HEP production like use case. The tests planned differ from other scheduled SRM2 testing activities, e.g. from the GSSD working group one, since we are more oriented in stress-testing the performance of the systems up to extreme conditions, rather than their functionalities and daily availability, and to study the feasibility of the LHC analysis and reprocessing activities (mainly LHCb and CMS ones since the experiment members of this group are from these two VOs) on T0D1 storage systems by means of custom experiment applications.
These tests also differ by the internal LHC VO SRM2 testing activities because the latter are mainly oriented to verifying the integration of the VO production system with the underlying production infrastructure and to test (with official production tools) the readiness of SRM2 endpoints.
