WLCG Operations Call details

General Information

• The purpose of the meeting is:
  • to report significant operational issues (i.e. issues which can or did degrade experiment or site operations) which are ongoing or were resolved after the previous meeting;
  • to announce or schedule interventions at Tier-1 sites;
  • to inform about recent or upcoming changes in the experiment activities or systems having a visible impact on sites;
  • to provide important news about the middleware;
  • to communicate any other information considered interesting for WLCG operations.
• The meeting should run from 15:00 Geneva time until 15:20, exceptionally to 15:30.
• The SCOD rota for the next few weeks is at ScodRota
• Whenever a particular topic needs to be discussed at the operations meeting requiring information from sites or experiments, it is highly recommended to announce it by email to the wlcg-scod list (at cern.ch) to allow the SCOD to make sure that the relevant parties have the time to collect the required information, or invite the right people at the meeting.

• ATLAS reports (raw view) -
  • Deletion and transfer errors at RALPP: bug where the pepd cannot correctly parse some of the new certificates in the IGTF 1.117 release. Downgrade to IGTF 1.116 solved it. Can other sites have the same problem?
    • Maarten:
      • it is due to a bug in Argus, for which workarounds are described in GGUS:158702 (easy edits and new rpms)
      • the new rpms are expected to be officially released in the UMD in a matter of days

  • Issues:
    • IN2P3:
      • Another problem with Pilot Submission, similar to last week apparently (GGUS:158856)
    • PIC:
      • Pilot submission problems (GGUS:158857).
        • Investigations ongoing. Seems to be only a problem on one CE

• KIT: We found and reported an issue with the "wlcg-wn" Singularity containers (on opportunistic resources), where critical symlinks in the root directory are missing for the latest images. The workaround for that currently is to fall back to the "testing" snapshot of April.

• NL-T1: This Friday, the SARA-MATRIX dCache will be in maintenance.

  • The CERN production FTS instances will be upgraded to FTS version 3.12.1 during the morning of Tuesday 20th September 2022:

    • Downtime 32892 Transparent upgrade of FTS-ATLAS at CERN to version 3.12.1
    • OTG0073043 Upgrade FTS-CMS to version 3.12.1
    • Downtime 32893 Transparent upgrade of FTS-CMS at CERN to version 3.12.1
    • OTG0073044 Upgrade FTS-LHCb to version 3.12.1

  • The GFAL2 configuration of fts3-atlas.cern.ch will be changed. The ordered list of possible transfer protocols to be used with SRM will be replaced with https;gsiftp;root. The current value is:
