Comments:

1. Install only in text mode. (no VESA modes available for NVIDIA NVS3100 card...)

2. After first reboot: 

yum install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia
nvidia-config-display enable 
nvidia-settings
yum groupinstall 'GNOME Desktop Environment'  # default install will not install desktop env. as no graphic card is found
yum groupinstall 'OpenAFS client' # default install is all broken: no graphics -> no cern recommended setup

# edit /etc/inittab, change def. runlevel to 5

lcm --configure --all # does not happen automatically since no first boot -> as there is no graphic card found

setpci -s 45:06.1 0xCA=0x57
setpci -s 45:06.2 0xCB=0x02
setpci -s 45:06.2 0xCA=0x00
modprobe sdhci

chkconfig --levels 345 NetworkManager on # ifup wlan0 -> fails, but NetworkManager can bring it up ..

Problems:

  • Install problems
  • built-in microphone ?
  • webcam does not work (module loaded, no image)
  • no sound after resume
  • no sound after hibernate
  • wakeup : wifi card unreliable - after few wakeups driver reports "Device reached critical temperature - ucode going too sleep" and doesn;t reinitialize the card
