The previous solution (running a hypervisor on SLC4) is not longer required since SLC5 is out and comes with a support4ed hypervisor (in fact the SLC4-xen kernel had been taken from RHEL5/SLC5 in the first place). As such support for this solution will be stopped.

Timeline

  • 2008-10-10: first mail sent to known users
  • 2008-12-08: mail sent to extened user list + linux-announce; deadline: mid-January

Users:

  • O.Khalid: 3 machines, no changes = "frozen" environment, no nee for updated SW
  • S.Roiser; building LCG/AA software; FIO-managed machine; doesn't care about Hypervisor but needs the VMs (and might want more)
  • D.Dykstra; FIO-managed machines, can upgrade one at a time.
