Minutes of the LIM meeting, Mar 24, 2005

Present: Emil Obreshkov (ATLAS), David Quarrie (ATLAS), Vasily Kabachenko (ATLAS), Andreas Pfeiffer (SPI)

Apologies: Florence Ranjard (LHCb), Shahzad Muzaffar (CMS), Eric Poinsignon (SPI)

Actions:

David introduced Vasily as the second librarian from ATLAS who will join the LIM meetings from now on.

The compiler version 3.4.3 is installed for public use at CERN for the IA32, IA64 and AMD64 platforms. The path to the compiler is:

/afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/contrib/gcc/3.4.3/slc3_ia32_gcc343/
/afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/contrib/gcc/3.4.3/slc3_ia64_gcc343/
/afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/contrib/gcc/3.4.3/slc3_amd64_gcc343/
As usual, you have to make sure that the corresponding bin/ and lib/ directories are first in your PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables.

An initial try with the 3.4.3 compiler showed that most external packages of the configuration LCG_34 do build properly, some show non-trivial problems which are looked at.

Issues:

No new issues (compared to the action items below) were raised.

Next meeting: April 07, 11:00.

Action items:

new and outstanding:

* install new CLHEP version as soon as it will be available

* provide "flexible" download/install for GENSER 1.0.0 (once it is released)

* check/validate the directory structure of all LCG AA projects (checkout and install area)

* create "LCGAA" pseudo-package for lcg-installation-manager.py to download the binaries of a related set of releases in one go.

closed since last meeting:

* status of root-4 based releases

    • bug-fix releases for seal (1.6.1) and pool (2.0.1, 2.0.2 and 2.0.3) have been released by the project teams.
