Minutes of the LIM meeting, Jun 2, 2005
Present: Emil Obreshkov (ATLAS), Eric Poinsignon (SPI),
Shahzad Muzaffar (CMS),
Andreas Pfeiffer (SPI)
Apologies: Florence Ranjard (LHCb), David Quarrie (ATLAS), Vasily Kabachenko (ATLAS)
Actions:
The doxygen tag files for ROOT and CLHEP are needed by the experiments.
Andreas to check with Alberto. The naming scheme of the directories and web
links (following the same structure as for the LCG AA projects) is ok for the experiments.
The new version of COOL (former CondDB) based on POOL 2.0.7 (SEAL 1.6.3)
has been released: COOL 1.1.0.
A debug version of root 4.04.02 has been produced for slc3_ia32_gcc323 and
is installed in the corresponding AFS path.
The gcov code coverage analysis for CLHEP 1.9.2.0 and ROOT 4.04.02 have
been done by the SPI team and are now available at:
http://lcgapp.cern.ch/qa/generatedReports/CLHEP-1.9.2.0/index.html
and
http://lcgapp.cern.ch/qa/generatedReports/ROOT_latest/index.html
Experiments have reported the list of old root versions still in use, so Eric will
now rename the ones not in use any longer by appending a "_TOREMOVE"
to their version in preparation for the deletion (foreseen for mid July).
Alberto has contacted Solveig Albrand on the new version for RuleChecker
and is planning to organize a meeting with IRST (the provider of RuleChecker)
once he has accumulated more feedback. Interested experiments are asked
to contact Alberto directly to give him feedback on their issues with RuleChecker.
Issues:
CMS asked for adding the --enable-qt flag to the installation of root 4.04.02
on slc3_ia32_gcc323. This only adds new libs and header files and does
not touch the existing installed s/w (confirmed by Rene). Meanwhile this
has beed done by Andreas and the distribution files have been rebuild by
Eric. Feedback is (as usual) welcome.
The compiler version 3.4.4 has been rebuild "in place" for ia32 and amd64
architectures in order to allow the libstdc++ to be a shared lib (having this
static caused problems when building some external packages as the code
in the lib was not compiled with -fPIC). The installation can be used from:
/afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/contrib/gcc/3.4.4/slc3_amd64_gcc344/.
Users have to make sure that both of the
<gccDir>/lib and
<gccDir>/lib64 directories are
first in their
LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
Next meeting: June 16, 11:00.
Action items:
new and outstanding:
- create doxy-tag files for CLHEP and ROOT
- provide "flexible" download/install for GENSER 1.0.0
- check/validate the directory structure of all LCG AA projects (checkout and install area)
- create "LCGAA" pseudo-package for lcg-installation-manager.py to download the binaries of a related set of releases in one go.
status of releases:
- a new version of COOL (1.1.0) has been build based on seal 1.6.3, pool 2.0.7, pi 1.3.3 and cool 1.0.3 (LCG_35_2)
