Measurement of inclusive jet nuclear modification factor in pPb collisions at sqrtsNN=5.02 TeV with CMS
Abstract: The inclusive jet transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra at mid- and forward pseudorapidities are presented for pPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =~.02 TeV. Thedata sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35$~\mathrm{nb}^{-1}~$ was collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. To evaluate the nuclear effects in jet production the nuclear modification factor $R_{pPb}$ is studied in several pseudorapidity bins by dividing the pPb jet spectra measured at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}~ =~.02 TeV by pp reference spectra obtained by extrapolation based on CMS measurements in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7~$TeV. A moderate enhancement is observed in $R_{pPb}$ at low $p_T$ in all the $\eta$ ranges. To quantify the $\eta$ dependence of jet production, the ratio of inclusive jet yields between equivalent backward and forward center-of-mass pseudorapidity ranges are presented as a function of jet $p_T$. No significant asymmetry is observed within the measured pseudorapidity range.
