Search for direct production of bottom and light top squark pairs in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV
Abstract: This report presents a search for direct production of bottom and light top squark pairs in proton-proton collision events at $ \sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2015. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb$^{-1}$. This search is performed in a final state of two or three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, as well as large missing transverse mass and contransverse mass calculated from the jets originating from bottom quarks and missing transverse momentum. No deviation from the standard model background is observed. The results are interpreted in the context of simplified models, with a bottom squark decaying to a b quark and an LSP, or with a top squark decaying to a c quark and an LSP. Bottom squarks with masses below 890 GeV are excluded at 95% CL for scenarios with a light LSP. Top squarks with masses below 275 GeV are excluded if mass splitting between a top squark and an LSP is close to 10 GeV.
