B513 Planning Meeting, 11th February 2005

Present:           Tony Cass, Serge Deleval, Anne Funken, Jose Miranda-Vizuete

1.             Previous Minutes

  1. Approved with minor corrections.
  2. 2.1) ABB came on Friday to review possibilities for switchboard modifications. There has been no response as yet, although one was expected by by Wednesday. Anne will follow this up on Monday.
  3. 2.4) The steam evacuation pipe has not been removed yet, but this is not a problem for cable installation. Jose has an offer for the cover and will arrange the work, hopefully for next week.
  4. 2.5) There is no dmage to the bunker waterproofing due to the installation of the cablofil for the air conditioning cables.
  5. 2.6) As there is no real risk to equipment in rooms not affected by fire if the fresh air supply is interrupted, it was agreed to keep a single signal for the desenfumage.
  6. 2.8) Given the risk of damage and as the installation of rigid ducts does not seem as complicated (and as expensive) as feared, it was agreed that rigid ducts should be used for the saferoom.

2.             Substation Status

  1. The backup 18kV connection is in place. This will be used to start tests at the 18kV level.
  2. Responses to the Market Survey for the physics UPS are needed by mid-April if we are to meet the deadlines for FC adjudication in September. This looks to be difficult given Anne’s workload in the next weeks and ST/EL absences. However, Anne will try to find time to finish the MS documents by the end of next week and then arrange the necessary reviews such tha the MS can be sent out in early March

3.             Machine Room Status

  1. Installation of the trays for the PDU supply cables will start next week. Marc Collignon should discuss possible routing of the tray for network fibres with Paul Laffin.
  2. Steel have finished the false floor modifications around the rectangular ducts. The modifications for the ducts on the Salève side wall will be done when Steel return to install the false floor grilles.
  3. The plaster board wall under the false floor will be finished next week. Any remaining holes in the floor will be filled at the same time.

4.             HVAC Status

  1. The duct installation has now finished. All that remains to be done is some work on the caillebottis to restore safe conditions in the false ceiling.
  2. With the duct installation complete, we are essentially ready to start the underfloor air circulation. However, the false floor void needs to be cleaned first. In any case, we should start slowly, in particular to filter out the inevitable dust.
  3. As the plans for the barn remodelling are not sufficiently detailed the 3rd phase of the duct installation will be done only after the status of the upgrade proposal is understood.
  4. Jose will ontain quotes to repair the main false ceiling and to replace the false ceiling along the Salève wall.
  5. Serge provided Tony with details of the vault temperoture connections to the PLC. Tony should contact Robin Martini about how to read this information.

5.             AOB

  1. Following discussions with FI, the study for possible micro-pieux installation will be handled as an extension of the original contract. This has the advantage that the architexts will also be involved. Jose has asked for a quote for this work.
  2. The quote for the additional painting following the duct installation work is  €1,000 with a further €10,000 to paint the ducts themselves. Tony said that he would have to discuss more widely for “cosmetic” painting work at this price. Jose commented that the price for the retouches would increase if the ducts were not being painted as the scaffolding costs are included with the quote for the work on the ducts.
  3. Tony will invite Dennis Raffourt to the next meeting to discuss smoke and water detection.
  4. Anne will be presenting overall state of the project at the TS Group Leaders’ meeting on 21st February. Anne and Serge again commented that there is no money in TS yet for their part of the increased works. The ideal is to do as much as possible during the 2005/6 shutdown, but needs the money status to be clear and also soon as the planning needs to start. Tony said he would discuss the money situation with Wolfgang, but that the uncertainty about funding should not stop the planning.
  5. Next meeting: 2pm Friday March 4th.
